Patar Shawarma

Shawarma, the Honest-Macros Version

Shawarma has a better nutritional story than most food you can get at midnight, and it does not need exaggeration to tell it. Spit-carved protein, fresh vegetables, and a menu that does not live in the fryer — here is the honest version, with the caveats left in.

The case for spit-carved protein

At its core, shawarma is marinated chicken or beef cooked slowly on a vertical spit and carved off in thin ribbons. As the cone turns, fat renders and drips away rather than pooling in a pan — so what lands on your plate is protein-forward by design, not by menu copywriting.

Compare the late-night alternatives honestly: a drive-through burger, a plate of cheese fries, whatever a gas station offers at 1 AM. Carved meat over salad or rice is simply a different category of decision. And because everything is carved to order, you are not eating food that has been holding under a lamp, soaking in its own grease for an hour — you are eating what just came off the fire.

How to order lighter here

Get a plate instead of a wrap, and you control everything: meat, a salad base or rice, sauce on the side. Skipping the bread is the single biggest lever, though our fresh lavash is thin as flatbreads go if you cannot bring yourself to pull it.

Choose salad over fries as your side. Ask for the toum on the side too — and here is the honest part: toum is garlic emulsified in oil, which makes it gloriously intense and genuinely calorie-dense. A little carries a long way. We will never pretend garlic sauce is a health food; we will just make it well and let you portion it.

What we won't claim

You will not find the words "guilt-free," "clean," or "superfood" anywhere in this shop, and we are not publishing calorie counts we have not verified. Shawarma is real food cooked carefully: meat marinated overnight, vegetables prepped fresh, bread off the griddle. Whether a given order is "healthy" depends on how you build it and what the rest of your day looked like — you know that, and we are not going to insult you by pretending otherwise.

What we can promise is the raw material to build a meal you feel good about: quality protein, real salads, and a kitchen that is not fryer-only.

Lighter doesn't stop at midnight

The quiet advantage of our hours: the reasonable option exists until 2 AM. Most of what is open at that hour in this city comes out of a fryer or a microwave, and the choice usually gets made for you. The spits run all day, so a 1 AM chicken plate with salad is carved as fresh as the lunch version — no heat lamps, no settling.

Questions, answered

Is shawarma healthy?+

It can be a solid choice, honestly built: spit-carved protein with fat rendering off as it cooks, paired with salad and measured sauce. It can also be a double wrap with extra toum and fries — which is a great night, just a different one. The menu supports both.

What is the lightest way to order at Patar?+

A chicken shawarma plate over salad, dressing and toum on the side, no fries. You get the full spit-carved flavor with the most control over everything else.

Is toum healthy?+

We will be straight with you: toum is garlic, oil, lemon, and salt — mostly oil by volume, which is what makes it so silky and intense. It is dairy-free and vegan, but it is calorie-dense. Get it on the side and use it like the strong stuff it is.
